1.  Three Workstations or less

  • A proper server running a server operating system is not mandatory, but is recommended. The server can be utilized as workstation. Server operating system: Windows 2003 Server Standard or Windows 2008 Server Standard.
  • The workstations can be networked as a peer to peer network, with one of the workstations designated as the “Server”. TurfSport2 Database Components, Server Components and Workstation Components must be installed on the designated XP Pro “Server” to allow it to function as a server.
  • Workstation operating system: Windows XP Professional.
  • Database Operating system: Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005

2.  Four or more workstations.

  • A proper server running a server operating system is mandatory. The server should be utilized as a dedicated server if you have 10 or more workstations. Server operating system: Windows 2003 Server Standard or Windows 2008 Server Standard.
  • The server can be configured as a domain or as a workgroup server. XP Pro Workstations should be configured to log onto the server domain, or if using the server as a workgroup, the username and password set-up on each XP Pro workstation must reside as a user on the server to allow access to the SQL server.
  • TurfSport2 Database Components, Server Components and Workstation Components must be installed on the server.
  • Workstation operating system: Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista / Windows 7.
  • Database Operating system - 8 or less workstations: Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005
  • Database Operating system - More than 8 workstations: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard

3.  Multi-branch operation operating from a central server

  • A proper server running a server operating system is mandatory. The server should be utilized as a dedicated server. Server operating system: Windows 2003 Server Standard or Windows 2008 Server Standard.
  • Terminal server licenses are required for all remote branch clients connecting to the central server.
  • Depending on the number of clients across the company connecting to the central server, consider separating the database and terminal server functions by installing a dedicated server for each function.
  • The server can be configured as a domain.
  • Workstations at the local branch do not need terminal server licenses if the TurfSport workstation software is installed locally on each workstation. If you are using thin client workstations throughout the company, then terminal server licenses are required for each terminal.
  • TurfSport2 Database Components, Server Components and Workstation Components must be installed on the database server.
  • Workstation operating system: Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista / Windows 7.
  • Database Operating system: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Standard / Enterprise
